Front Bumper Strip v53 - MJF
The "Diving Board" Strip is live! In case you haven't been following along, this is a 3D printed plastic strip that fills in the space on the USA spec BMW E30 "Diving Board" bumper (produced from '84-'87.. ish, depending on model). These bumpers came stock with a plastic frame for mounting the USA plates required to be on the front of cars in some US states.
Some cars are missing them and people have to zip-tie their plates on or tie them up with wire. Some people want to mount a Euro style plate, still others just want a clean-looking Diving Board™. This product solves all those problems! If you haven't already, go check out the blog post https://e30update.com/updates/love-4-the-diving-board and/or the install video https://youtu.be/3jP1FWG37Uw if you're into that kind of thing..
Made from industrial grade MJF (Multijet Fusion) process plastic. This part should provide many years of classy, 80s impact resistant trimming!
A COUPLE IMPORTANT NOTES: Some of the pics on this page are renderings. That is because I made a couple tweaks to the design to help it install easier and also I added the tow hook hole for the cars that have one.
I also want to point out that these are older cars. Not everything will be identical on every car so while I'm pretty certain this will fit your car (it fits mine great) there may be some kind of unforeseen fitment issue with your car. I also want to point out that this is a first-gen product run. Slight modifications may be needed to get this to fit perfectly. If you wind up having to shave off a little bit here or there or make some other mod to get it to fit, please let me know! I can change the CAD so future E30 owners hopefully don't have to make the tweak you did. But I don't think you'll need to!
And finally, THANK YOU for supporting my passion project! I'm an E30 fanatic like I imagine you are. I'd love to be able to keep (re)creating NLA, rare, and custom parts for these cars and your purchase helps continue make that possible!
Glove Box Latch Housing - FFF
If, like most E30 glove box latch housings, yours is cracking and crumbling with age, you can replace it with a 3D printed part without having to get the entire OEM assembly. Simply remove the latches (it is recommended you replace the latches at the same time - find them here: http://e30update.com/store/p4/glove-box-latch-drive.html - http://e30update.com/store/p5/glove-box-latch-driven.html) and reassemble. It's an easy, 15min job that will keep your glove box operating perfectly for another 30+ years!
*In the images the 3D printed part is the one with the dull finish*
Air Dam Bracket '84-'88 es/is (Right Side)
This bracket supports the air dam of 1985-1988 is and es trim E30s. Three brackets are required and there are slightly different parts for the right, center, and left.
E30 Glove Box "Driven" Latch
This part rarely breaks, but if it does, now you can replace just the latch without having to get the entire assembly. It also saves the time of having to switch out your tumbler or having to replace the entire assembly and then having to have a separate glove box key.
E30 Glove Box "Drive" Latch
This is the part that inspired starting E30 Update!
Replace your E30's glove box latch before it traps important items. While this part is metal, it can break, (we know first hand!) and when it does, it can very annoyingly leave you locked out of your glove box and possibly important info like your registration and proof of insurance :/
Now you can replace just the latch without having to get the entire assembly. It also saves the time of having to switch out your tumbler or having to replace the entire assembly and then having to have a separate glove box key.
While the 3D printed part is far superior to the original material, several structural improvements have been made to the E30 Update part. Notably, dual drive finger ribs rather than one, rounded spring channel ribs and thickened walls.
Replacement is a very quick & easy process, and you'll never have to worry about your drive latch breaking and locking you out of your glove box - ever! And trust us - it's a bear to get into once it breaks. Of course, if you're already locked out of your glove box, well, sorry to hear that, but... here's your fix! See how to do the replacement here: https://e30update.com/updates/glove-box-latch-part-2-the-fix
We're probably biased, but it's so cheap and easy, it's worth just replacing now so you avoid having to deal with being locked out of your glove box!
Air Dam Side Brackets
Because these invariably get damaged and fall off the car, many people don't even know this is a part that ever existed - but it did! These little brackets compliment the three main brackets that support the front air dam or "Cow Catcher™" on series 1 cars. One bracket for each side.
